Rob's Future Garage Top 10, February 2009

Deepness is the name of the game for the tunes which caught my ear this month. Check out the new Murat Ozer mixes of Darren Duvall 'My Control' in particular and Orlando Voorn's latest, 'The Beholder, a super deep and soulful groover. Also on Milton Jackson's new album, 'Crash', is 'Orbit 3' which is basically a stunning update on Freddie Hubbard 'Little Flower' from 1967 (which was more famous in recent times as the inspiration for Pépé Bradock 'Deep Burnt' and Akabu 'Ride The Storm'. Beyond all probability it was also remade in the 70s by a vibraphonist called Milt Jackson - pass me my tinfoil hat!). Anyway - it kicks ass.

One of Black Science Orchestra's finest releases has been tweaked as part of the re-issue of their classic Walters Room LP from 1996. Ashley Beedle's disco throwback mix of 'Save Us' is where it's at right now if you're into jammy, funky, quality house - and Joey Negro's Sunburst band returns with quality Milton Jackson mixes of 'Journey To The Sun'.

Immigrant Records seem to do little wrong these days. Felipe Venegas from Chile drops his debut EP, dabbling in rhythmic, percussive tech-house which kicks ass and Ralph Sliwinski's 'Tropica' is just as handy, also in the quirkly percussive realm of tech-house.

New York maestro Cevin Fisher is also back for 2008 also with a cracking re-issue of 'You Got Me Burning Up' on Subversive which includes a great remix by Prok & Fitch amongst others.
