Silent Disco Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia aftermath

42 Below, Silent Disco, PavilionSilent Disco, Malaysia, DJ Rob WarnerCentro KLThere were a lot of confused looks from passer-bys on their way into Kuala Lumpur's Pavilion mall when the first 42 Below Silent Disco kicked off on 12 December. The temporary 'club' set up right in front of the mall's main entrance was a mammoth undertaking and party-goers appreciated the effort - from the entrance and custom bar to the dual DJ set-up and the huge visuals screen (and cooling fans).

I manned the house 'channel' on the Silent Disco system while local hip-hop hero DJ Goldfish was on the other. Silent Discos feel a bit strange for the first hour as people come to grips with the lack of a big sound system - but as soon as people have had a few drinks the party kicks into full swing. Malaysia's first 42 Below Silent Disco was a big success and it was great to see a couple of hundred people partying in such a unique location and scenario.

Aside from this I also had a pretty cranking Thursday down at Centro KL. The rain in the early evening didn't stop the club filling up and it was humming by midnight. Centro has a great DJ booth, a big sound system and a regular crowd who seem pretty happy to be played a range of styles. I managed to span everything from vintage Masters At Work to Valentino Kanzyani and beyond and eventually had to be coaxed from the decks in the small hours by resident DJ Remy as I played well into his timeslot (sorry mate). Cheers to that!

42 Below Silent Disco debuts in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Silent Disco, Malaysia, 42 Below, Rob WarnerFollowing from the awesome silent disco at Loof in Singapore in November we're set for a repeat - two in fact - in Malaysia. The 42 Below Silent Disco hits Kuala Lumpur on 12/13 Dec at Pavilion. Pavilion is not a club, nor bar - but a luxury mall. The Silent Discos will take place at the mall in front of Christmas shoppers- It'll be my first time DJing in a location like that and probably for many of those attending.

While in KL I'll be stopping by the swanky Bamboo 9 bar as well as playing a set at the renowned Centro KL on Weds 10th and Thurs 11th of December.

The debut 42 Below Silent Disco in Asia

8 November saw the first 42 Below Silent Disco in Asia take place at the stylish Loof bar in Singapore.

DJing the whole night on the rooftop bar alongside local hip-hop DJ Andrew Teo (resident at Singapore's funky The Butter Factory), who was in fine form, while I was on the other 'channel' playing house, disco and a few classics. It was a great night in all with tons of people clearly getting carried away with the concept.
